From Jakarta to Langweer
Bartele Gallery was founded in Jakarta in 2009 by Bartele Santema and specialises in original antique maps and prints.
Together with my Indonesian wife Roos, I have built the gallery around something we both enjoy: finding beautiful and interesting pieces, researching their history, and bringing them to collectors and enthusiasts around the world.
Our story started in Jakarta, where we still have a gallery at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski. Today we are also based in the historic village of Langweer in Friesland, the Netherlands.
Perhaps not surprisingly, antique maps and prints of Indonesia and Southeast Asia have always had a special place in our collection. Over the years the gallery has grown into a large and varied international collection, ranging from maps and city views to natural history, architecture, costumes, portraits and many other subjects.
Despite that growth, we want to keep what we do personal. We handle the pieces ourselves, answer questions about them, and are always happy to help when someone is looking for something particular.
Bartele Gallery is a member of the Nederlandsche Vereeniging van Antiquaren (NVvA) and follows its professional standards for the antiquarian trade. All our antique maps and prints are original, and a certificate of authenticity is available on request.
From Langweer and Jakarta we serve customers around the world, with careful packing and worldwide shipping.
